Above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); lower there is a conventionalized composition in the centre whereof there is depicted a horseman; to the right there is a fragment of a manuscript page and below - a goose-quill; thereunder there is the coin face value 5/ГРИВЕНЬ (5/hryvnias) and to the left - the coin issue year - 2012.
Reverse
There is a portrait of Yevhen Hrebinka to the right whereof, against the background of a conventionalized manuscript page, indicated are his years of life - 1812/1848; to the left there is the legend ЄВГЕН/ГРЕБІНКА (Yevhen/Hrebinka).
