Obverse
On the coin obverse there is depicted a conventionalized coat of arms of Zaporizhia Army, left from which there is the small National emblem of Ukraine; 2005, the coin issue year (beneath) and the circular inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) (above), П'ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (5/ hryvnia) (beneath), as well as the NBU Mint logotype.
Reverse
On the coin reverse there is a depiction of a Cossack community headed by a foreman; left there is a stone idol of Polovtsi tribe; under the composition there is a coat of arms of Kalmiuska palanqua. Around the coin circumference there are inscriptions: 500 РОКІВ КОЗАЦЬКИМ ПОСЕЛЕННЯМ. КАЛЬМІУСЬКА ПАЛАНКА (500 Years to Cossack settlements, Kalmiuska palanqua).
