Obverse
The coin commemorates the 125th anniversary of the birth of Ostap Vyshnia (vyshnia is Ukrainian for cherry; real name - Pavlo Hubenko), a prominent Ukrainian writer and humorist who excelled at satirical articles and cartoons. Obverse: above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular inscription Національний банк України (National Bank of Ukraine); in the centre there is the composition representing the popular `Cherry Smiles` storybook adored by readers: the shotgun that is loaded with two cherries and the hat full of them; to the left there is the mark of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint; the coin issue year indication 2014 is to the right; below there is the coin face value ДВІ ГРИВНІ (two hryvnias).
Reverse
Reverse bears Ostap Vyshnia`s portrait with representations of heroes of his works around him and the bow-shaped inscription ОСТАП ВИШНЯ (Ostap Vyshnia), above to the right, and indication of the years of his life 1889/1956, to the left.
