Obverse
On the coin obverse the Small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted over an open ancient psalmbook. Above, along the circumference, there is a stylized inscription УКРАЇНА; underneath, there is a two line inscription 100 ГРИВЕНЬ. At the left and at the right there is a legend: 1997, coin issue year, Au 900, metal and its standard and 15,55 g, gold pure weight.
Reverse
On the coin reverse against a background of a three column arcade, the following is depicted: Jesus Christ within a circumference with abbreviations - IC - XC, the biblical King David, the Kyivan scribe Spyrydoniy - protodeacon, and a fragment of a Church Slavonic text. Above, along the circumference there is the stylized inscription: КИЇВСЬКИЙ ПСАЛТИР, beneath - the date: 1397.
