On the obverse of the first piece of 8 reales, the central oil scene "La Rendición de Bailén" (The surrender of Bailén) by José Casado del Alisal is reproduced.
Reverse
On the back is the work of José María Galván "El General Castaños, Duke of Bailén", who was given the name of Duke for defeating the French army in the famous "Battle of Bailén", on July 19, 1808.
