Obverse
The symbol that summarizes the characteristics of sovereignty of San Marino is constituted by a lionhead from whose mouth leave the branches which join the top. At the are three towers topped with feathers, covered by a roof, but no blackbirds as they were represented in earlier symbols. The set was borrowed from an old coat of arms, perhaps contemporary with the time in which they were approved and built defensive walls, and this emblem is still on the facade of an old building that was common in the era of the Magna Domus. Surrounding the composition of the legend:
REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO.
is reported based on the motto
LIBERTAS.
Reverse
It shows the place where the fortified San Marino prepared the mixture coal-saltpeter for gunpowder; it's called "Mill of Dust" and stands at the Gate of Omerelli
