Obverse
In the centre - the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower - the semicircular inscription - "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE RUBLES), at the bottom -the year of issue "2002", the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right - the fine metal content and the mint trade mark.
Reverse
In the centre - the Dionissy's icon "The Crucifix" (painted in 1500) from the Trinity Cathedral of the PauI-Obnorsky Monastery situated close by the town Vologda (kept today in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow). To the left and to the right from the icon - miniatures of the XVIth century from the "Personal Annalistic Code": "The Stay in Military Opposition on the Ugra River in the Time of Ioann III" and "The Campaign of Ioann III against Novgorod", the inscription at the bottom - "ДИОНИСИЙ" (DIONISSY).
