Obverse
The two-headed eagle designed by artist I. Bilibin. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «25 РУБЛЕЙ 1996 г.» (25 RUBLES 1996), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA). The letters below indicate the metal sign, the fineness, the mint trademark and the fine metal content.
Reverse
The Grand Duke Dmitri Donskoy with a sword, a monk with a cross and the Grand Duke's sword-bearer holding a horse by the bridle, all standing in a field; in the background - Russian men-at-arms with a gonfalon over them; to the right - the outlines of a monastery. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top - "1000-ЛЕТИЕ РОССИИ - ДМИТРИЙ ДОНСКОЙ" (THE MILLENNIUM OF RUSSIA - DMITRI DONSKOY), at the bottom - "КУЛИКОВСКАЯ БИТВА 1380 г." (THE BATLE ON THE KULIKOVO PlAIN 1380), separated by two birds to the left, to the right - a sword and a quiver with arrows.
