Description:
Obverse
Sword with a corrugated blade, crosses with a scale, both are symbols of Saint Michael. Letter "M" in the background, framed by a leaf ornament.
Reverse
The reverse of the coin shows a detail adapted from the famous depiction of Saint Michael fighting the dragon, painted on the altar of the church of Saint Miquel de Soriguerola in Catalonia, Spain. The painting, which dates from the end of the 13th century, is credited to an anonymous painter known as Mestre de Soriguerola and can be found today in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona.
