Description:
Obverse
The central motif is composed of ornaments symbolizing the constituent parts of the world: the earth, the sky, natural phenomena, the seasonal and diurnal changes. The year 2000 is placed in the lower part of the obverse. The inscription LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA (Republic of Latvia) is arranged in a semicircle along the coin's edge.
Reverse
A stylised representation of the Latvian landscape with a threshing barn, which stands for the earth's riches and affluence, is featured on the reverse. Below the motif, there is the inscription LATS, topped with the numeral 1.
